Although restrictions are lifted, not all of us are back in the office and it can be tricky to maintain a work-life balance when work and life occur in the same space. Your bed morphs into your office, your kitchen into your meeting room, and the day’s stress can seep into the evening. So, how do you de-stress when working from home?
At Tisserand Aromatherapy, we want you to feel confident and well-equipped to take care of your wellbeing. That’s why we’re sharing three ways you can de-stress before, during, and after work. These tips can be practiced on their own or with products from our Total De-Stress blend. It contains Geranium, Orange, and Nutmeg 100% natural essential oils, which have been found to combat stress.
- Try a calming meditation
How do you mark the start of your WFH day? A cup of coffee? Emails? Going over your to-dos?
It’s common to enter the day full steam ahead, only to reach an energy-lull by mid-afternoon. If a rushed morning leaves you frustrated a few hours on, why not try easing yourself into the day with a gentle meditation? Find a quiet and comfortable seat where you won’t be disturbed for the next ten or so minutes. Apply our Total De-Stress Pulse Point Roller Ball to your temples, neck, and behind the ears. As you roll it onto these pressure points, imagine the tension melting away. Set a timer and close your eyes. Take slow, conscious breaths. When the timer goes, gently open your eyes and bring your mind back into the room. You should feel better ready to enter the working day and handle any stress that comes your way.
- Set up a dedicated workspace
Whilst it’s tempting to slip into bed and claim your ‘soft office’, try to keep a dedicated space for your work. Even if it’s just a small corner, it will help you leave your work-related worries behind once you’re done with the day. Pop a few drops of our Total De-Stress or Mind Clear Diffuser oil into your Aroma Spa Diffuser on your desk to bring calm, clarity, and focus. If a zoom meeting means you need to de-stress quickly, keep our Total De-Stress MoodFix Mist nearby. One or two sprays over your workspace, a deep breath, and the soothing scent will help you reset. We tested it on a panel of 44 participants, and 93% said they felt less stressed after using it (just remember to turn your camera off before you start spraying!).
- Create a bedtime ritual
Office hours can be a bit elusive when you’re not, well, in an office. The day can morph into the evening, making it almost impossible to drift off. If you’re wondering how to de-stress and sleep better, we recommend creating a bedtime ritual. This could include journaling, reading, or a skincare routine. Whatever helps move your brain away from the world of work towards dreamland. We recommend a warm bath to help you unplug in the evening.
