This is part three of the ‘The Seven Chakras and how to support each with essential oils’ series. In the final part, we look at the Third Eye and Crown chakras, both found in the head. The chakras in this part are linked to our intuition, imagination, awareness and our intelligence. These chakras are closely linked to our overall purposes as well.
Third Eye Chakra
The Third Eye chakra is often described as a purple or indigo colour and located just above your eyebrow point at the nasal bridge. This chakra has a strong focus on your instinct, your intuition. It also enables you to see the bigger picture and have a sense of knowing.
If this chakra is not connected, you may be feeling headaches, issues with vision or not being able to focus. Those that are not energetically connected to their third eye often feel blocked of any intuition, or not able to have an open mind, frustrated and have difficulty making decisions.
Essential oils for balance: Clary Sage, Rosemary and Patchouli
To get the Third Eye Chakra open and connected we often need to be calm and still. Therefore mediation is often the tool for working with the Third Eye Chakra. Setting aside time for some dedicated meditation is best. First thing in the morning can sometimes work better before your mind is full of all the tasks and things that make up your day.
A subtle ointment of essential oils can help relax you into mediation and support the process of opening and balancing the Third Eye. Try creating your own sacral meditation ointment with the following.
- 20mls of Blending Oil – Grapeseed, Jojoba or Sweet Almond
- 2 drops of Clary Sage
- 2 drops of Rosemary
- 1 drop of Patchouli
Mix in a 20ml dropper bottle or small 20ml jar, and blend gently. Take a few drops of the ointment and dab it on your forehead, you can also use it on pulse points as well. Relax into the aroma of the blend and your mediation practice
Crown Chakra
You may be experiencing loneliness, lack of connection, and headaches.
The last chakra is the Crown chakra, this is often linked to spirituality, awareness and intelligence. It is described as a glowing white or sometimes violet in colour. The Crown chakra is positioned at the top of your head. The Crown chakra is linked to all the other chakras, so therefore this one is so important, it also helps to keep the other chakras open and balanced.
If this chakra is out of balance, there is often a feeling of stubbornness and scepticism. Because it is connected to all the other chakras and is the key link between them, it affects all our physical systems, our brain and nervous system.
Essential oils for balance: Frankincense, Lavender and Sandalwood
To ensure our Crown chakra is fully open and balanced, supporting all other chakras, we often need to tap into stillness, so mediation is again key here. Try and set aside some time to dedicate to mediation, this time working with a diffuser. Set it up a few minutes before you start so that the aroma is present in the room.
Set up your diffuser with about 100mls of water and then add:
- 2 drops of Frankincense
- 2 drops of Lavender
- 2 drops of Sandalwood
This diffuser blend for grounding your energy and being open to the opportunity to connect to the universe but also your other chakras. Set the diffuser to run as you meditate, but if that’s not possible perhaps having it on while you work or read will have some benefit too. Notice how the essential oil scent makes you feel and see if you notice a change in your energy at all.
