Crystals have increased in popularity as people have become more aware of energy as part of wellness and self-care practices. But crystals and semiprecious stones have been believed to have healing abilities for millions of years. Crystals are important parts of culture and tradition. For example, the Egyptians used crystals in tombs and clothing, and the Aztec people used crystals for sculptures, tools and temples.
Crystals give off energy or vibrations, and different types of crystals help diffident energy fields within the body. Having crystals near to you, holding them or placing them on your body is therefore thought to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual support.
With essential oils working in the same way to support us. And so it can be a wonderful combination to partner the two practices together.
‘As an aromatherapist, I love to enhance the energy of the crystal with essential oils and vice versa. It gives you an experience that is deeply connecting and expressive.’
Here are some of my crystal pairing suggestions for Tisserand’s expertly blended wellbeing ranges.
If you need some reviving, a wake and a shake-up of the energy, then this blend of Orange, Lime and Grapefruit will feel like the supercharge you need. Pair with Carnelian crystal, the beautiful orange colour is stimulating and passion-awakening. Ideal to keep in your living space, bag or pocket for a boost of energy during the day.
Life likes to keep us on our toes! So every now and then there can be periods of uncertainty, maybe a stressful day at work or something we just didn’t foresee. It’s important that we unwind from these hectic situations. This blend has a comforting combination of warming Nutmeg, sweet uplifting Orange and balancing Geranium, which together brings a sense of calm. Pair with Fluorite, which is known to absorb and neutralise negative energy and stress. Fluorite also can come in several colours and shades of greens and purples, which are soothing and stress relieving.
Whether you are having trouble sleeping or just in need of deep, good-quality sleep the soothing blend of lavender, jasmine and sandalwood will leave your mind and body feeling blissful and ready for a peaceful sleep. Pair with Amethyst, widely known for its soothing energy frequency. Having this by your bed or a piece under your pillow will also help you to drift away soundly.
Maybe you need to raise your vibes, or you’re already in the happiest place and want to stay there for as long as you possibly can. Then this infusion of Lemon Tea Tree, Bergamot and Nutmeg has all the ingredients to keep you feeling bright and joyful. Pair with Citrine, the ‘sunshine’ crystal because of its beautiful yellows and golden colours. Citrine is associated with manifestation, attracting abundance and positivity.
Continuous self-care is very important for homeostasis. This is the ability to stay in a steady physical and emotional state, being calm and de-stressed. So making time for yourself regularly can be heightened with this relaxing and inspiring blend of Lavender, Bergamot and Patchouli, calming the mind and bringing a sense of inner peace. Pair with Blue Lace Agate, a mineral that is formed of soothing blues and whites. This stone is nurturing and supportive. It is known to bring calmness and peace, especially around emotions and is helpful with being able to communicate.
There are several ways to work with crystals alongside essential oils. However, the simplest thing to do is just have the crystals you are drawn to near to you. That could be next to your bed if it is for sleep, or by your computer for support with energy or de-stressing. Or a room you want to focus on certain energy, such as happiness in your living space and calming in a bathroom. There are endless combinations you can play with around your home.
Just check that you don’t have crystals that are awakening near your bed or in your calm spaces.
