Part of the Wellbeing Collective from Tisserand Aromatherapy, Sarah Eckersley, is the yogi behind the successful Wilde Yoga. We spoke to her to find out how aromatherapy helps her to achieve a balanced and happy lifestyle.
“I always start my day with a cup of fresh lemon and hot water and around 10 minutes of meditation. Following this, I tend to have my morning yoga practice. As my schedule is quite busy sometimes I only manage to squeeze in 10 minutes but it’s always worth making the time to do. To enhance my experience, I rub an aromatherapy oil into my hands before savassanah as this allows me to let go of any tension that may be sitting in the body whilst energising me for the day ahead. Depending on my mood I choose different oils but I’m a huge fan of Tisserand Aromatherapy Energy High Body & Massage Oil.
“Following this morning routine my days vary considerably depending on the classes I teach and the meetings I have scheduled. On particularly busy days where my mind tends to go into overdrive, I always make sure I have Tisserand Aromatherapy Total De-Stress Roller Ball in my bag. Rubbing it onto my wrists and taking a couple of deep breaths with my eyes closed helps to ground and focus me”.
“At the end of my working day, which can sometimes be as late as 10 pm I always make sure I take the time to read. Looking at my phone or watching TV makes my mind too active whereas reading helps me to switch off. As a huge lover of literature, it also allows me to build in a bit of ‘me-time’ which I think is super important in terms of looking after yourself. The last thing I do before bed is use Tisserand Aromatherapy Sleep Better Pillow Mist. It helps to dissolve any last thoughts buzzing around and helps me to physically relax into sleep”.
