November welcomes the arrival of World Vegan Month. Even the non-vegans among us cannot ignore the growing trend for more plant-based and less animal-based products in our lives. We are surrounded by Vegan-tastic alternatives almost everywhere we go. Veganism is on the up.
At the beginning of the year, we had colleagues and friends taking the plunge partaking in Veganuary, which, as a new year’s health trend took a high level of commitment. Whilst World Vegan Month isn’t about encouraging us all to try becoming Vegan for a month, it will undoubtedly raise our awareness once again about what we are eating and what is in the products that we are using on our bodies. One of the biggest responses to ‘veganuary’ was that it helped to change the mindset of the participants involved. Ok, so not everyone has remained a vegan, but some are still Vegetarians, and some have re-evaluated the ingredients in both the food and cosmetics they were using.
This all helps to reinforce the healthy living and natural lifestyle movement that is currently surrounding us. Is it a movement? Well, things are certainly moving in a different direction; and before this summer some of us had never cooked Quinoa before let alone been able to pronounce it. Here at Tisserand Aromatherapy HQ, there have been recipes passed around for all kinds of vegan-friendly snacks – protein balls being the latest delicacy that has been experimented – the verdict: very tasty for something that is predominantly dates and nuts whizzed up in a blender!
It is easy to think about veganism relating only to food. But it’s so much bigger than just not eating meat, fish & dairy. Within the health and body care industry, there is a growing awareness and education about what ingredients are being used in our everyday products. Over the past century, processes for creating commercial cosmetics and body products have evolved with such complexity that it can be difficult for us to know what ingredients are being used. Things like artificial fragrances, preservatives, stabilisers, detergents, and animal-based ingredients are a common feature in many of our familiar favourites, without us being aware of it.
We are proud to be a member of The Vegan Society because we understand the importance of natural ingredients. From our Essential Oils which form the base of all our collections, to our forthcoming projects, you will find the Vegan Society accreditation on all our products. This brings you peace of mind because it is not always easy or convenient to make sure that you are buying the very best from the vast world of natural beauty. At Tisserand Aromatherapy, we only use 100% natural pure essential oils and ingredients – we will never compromise on quality. It is our brand ethos when we say Trust in our knowledge. So, for all the Vegans, and would-be-Vegans out there, you can trust in us.
