Hazard symbols & warning statements on my products packaging

Under the regulations of UK and EU law, certain products with potentially hazardous properties must display warning information about these hazards on their packaging, a practice known as CLP (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging). This requirement isn't limited to household products; it also includes aromatherapy items such as Single Essential Oils, Blended Diffuser Oils, and specific products like Room Mists.

In response to the ongoing evolution of the interpretation and implementation of these regulations, Tisserand has taken proactive measures to achieve full compliance and establish leadership within the market, aligning with our commitment to excellence across all aspects of our operations. As the creators and manufacturers of blends and products, we recognise our duty to assess potential hazards in our mixtures and label them accordingly. Consequently, we have introduced CLP labeling where applicable on our products, ensuring that customers have access to comprehensive safety information.

We anticipate that other brands will follow suit as CLP labeling becomes more widely understood and adopted in the UK market, positioning Tisserand at the forefront of compliance. Importantly, our products remain unchanged, maintaining the integrity of their natural ingredients, and are as safe as claimed, provided they are used in accordance with the provided instructions.

Help & FAQs on hazard symbols & warning statements on my products packaging:

Tisserand has had to apply these warning symbols and extra safety warnings to our essential oil and diffuser oil cartons and labels, as a result of changes to UK and EU law. This is known as CLP – Classification, Labelling and Packaging.
The primary reason these symbols are on our labels and cartons is to warn consumers that possible skin sensitisation reactions may occur whilst using the product, the product may be flammable, or it may be an environmental hazards if the product were to be released into the environment.Skin sensitisation occurs when an individual is consistently exposed to a specific chemical, leading to an immune response. Typically, this response manifests as an allergic reaction on the skin, resulting in inflammation, redness, bumps, and sensations such as stinging, burning, or itchiness. Certain allergens present naturally in essential oils can contribute to skin sensitisation over time. These allergens are consistently listed at the end of the ingredient list for all our products.
If any signs of skin sensitisation arise while using our products, it is advisable to discontinue use immediately. We are the first essential oil manufacturer in the UK that has complied with this regulation, and you should soon see other essential oil suppliers such as Holland & Barrett amongst others, having to comply. Our essential oils and diffuser oils are still perfectly safe to use, - provided they are used as per the instructions advised on the carton and the website. We would like to assure you that our products have not changed, nor have our ingredients, and they are just as natural as they claim to be, and as safe as they always have been- provided they are used as per the instructions advised on the carton and the website. Our essential oils are still perfectly safe to use on children, provided they are used as per the instructions advised on the carton and the website. The reason we now have these symbols on our packaging is because the UK and EU have passed legislation that requires all manufacturers of essential oils to place these symbols on their packaging. The raised triangle is known as a Tactile Warning of Danger. It is there to assist blind or vision-impaired people in understanding that the product they are holding may present a danger to themselves.  In other words it’s a safety mechanism, just like our child-proof caps that are found on all our essential oil and diffuser oil bottles.*Please note these warning symbols and warnings are applicable to essential oils and diffuser oils only. For external use only.
