Aromatically, Orange is a top note essential oil. It’s the first oil you will smell in a blend. It blends well with Frankincense, Citronella or Ginger.

Oranges, part of the Rutaceae (citrus) family, originate from Southeast Asia and were first cultivated in China around 2500 BC. They have been mentioned in literature as early as 314 BC and are still used extensively in traditional Chinese medicine.

Oranges contain sacs in their peel which are filled with essential oil. When the peel is squeezed via a method known as expression, the essential oil is released. The Orange didn’t arrive in Europe until the 15th to 16th century, when it became a very popular fruit and was considered a luxury. They are now cultivated all over the world, with Brazil being the largest producer of the fruit (approximately 30% of the world's supply) to meet the huge demands of the juice industry.
