How Eucalyptus Helps You Move Freely This Winter

The essential oil of Eucalyptus is instantly recognisable in its aroma; fresh, bracing and clearing, like a blast of fresh air. Steam distilled from the leaves of the Eucalyptus tree and native to Australia, Eucalyptus globulus is just one of hundreds of different types of Eucalyptus that belong to the Myrtaceae family. The indigenous population have used the leaves for natural medicine for centuries.

Eucalyptus is well known for its decongestant properties to clear and refresh you, but did you know that it is also beneficial to relieve muscular aches and pains?

Eucalyptus is rich in a component called 1-8 Cineole (also known as Eucalyptol) which, in research, has been shown to work as an analgesic, meaning it can relieve pain. It also encourages blood flow to your muscles and joints bringing heat to your body resulting in relief from stiffness and discomfort, perfect for general aches and pains during the colder winter months.

This warming action can help:

·       Relax tense muscles

·       Reduce the feeling of stiffness

·       Improve comfort during movement

So, using eucalyptus as a ‘go to’ for helping you move freely this winter is a definite must!

Why not try one of the following blends for some winter warmth to soothe achy muscles. Apply after a frosty winter walk or use to warm up your body before your work-out.
