Product Details

Patchouli essential oil has a rich, earthy aroma with sweet woody and floral notes that deepen into a smoky warmth. It’s deeply grounding yet gently uplifting, and is loved for its exotic scent and comforting, supportive effect on the emotions. Patchouli is perfect for moments when you feel overwhelmed or in need of calm reassurance.

Emotionally
Patchouli helps ease nervous tension and feelings of insecurity, soothing emotional distress and bringing a sense of grounded stability. Its rich, sensual aroma is also known for its gentle aphrodisiac qualities.

Physically
Patchouli is deeply nourishing and hydrating, which makes it ideal for mature, dry or inflamed skin. It’s often used to help soothe conditions like acne, eczema or damaged skin, and can be used in a luxurious, skin-restoring massage. It can also support the body during recovery from illness.

Patchouli essential oil is rich and earthy with a sweet woody aroma.

Aromatically, Patchouli is a base note essential oil, the longest lasting scent in a blend. It blends well with Bergamot, Geranium or Lavender.

The exotic fragrance of Patchouli oil instantly transports you to India, Indonesia and the Phillippines, where the oil has been valued for centuries as a perfume. The leaves of the patchouli bush are covered with tiny hairs, which each carry a microscopic globule of essential oil. If you stroke the leaf's surface you will release tiny amounts of the thick, dark-brown oil onto your fingers. Prior to steam distillation, the Patchouli leaves are dried and slightly scalded to aid the release of the aromatic molecules.

Patchouli has a long-standing traditional use in the Middle and Far Eastern cultures and medicine – in incense, as an insect repellent, in skin care and as a digestive tonic. It is still used in these ways today in modern Aromatherapy practice. The aroma of Patchouli is very powerful, so you only need to use small amounts when making blends.
