Our ethically harvested Vetiver essential oil originates from Indonesia. It's extracted using steam distillation, where the oil is drawn from the rhizome (root) of the grass, to produce a thick, golden brown oil. Warm the bottle before use to help the oil come out.

It can also help to ease muscle tension and the physical effects of emotional strain.

Emotionally
Vetiver is naturally calming and grounding. It can help to soothe mental exhaustion and restore emotional balance, making it particularly supportive during times of stress. It can also aid meditation and encourage deep relaxation at bedtime, making it a great alternative to Lavender.

Physically
When used in a massage blend or hot bath, Vetiver can help to relax tense muscles and ease the physical effects of emotional strain. It is also supportive for skin, particularly dry and mature skin, due to its nourishing effect.

Vetiver essential oil is rich and earthy with a warming, smoky aroma.

Aromatically, Vetiver is a base note essential oil, the longest lasting scent in a blend. It blends well with Orange, Frankincense or Rose Absolute.

Vetiver is a tall tropical grass from Indonesia, with long sharp-edged leaves and abundant aromatic roots from which the essential oil is steam distilled. In India and Nepal, vetiver is planted to protect hillsides from erosion during monsoons. The grass's tangled root system holds the soil together and is also the part of the plant that yields Vetiver essential oil. Both the grass and roots are used locally to make fragrant mats, blinds and fans. In Sri Lanka and India, Vetiver is known as the "oil of tranquillity" because of its deeply calming effect.

How to use

Vetiver Essential Oil

Simple and effective ways to incorporate Vetiver essential oil into your daily routine.

Diffuser Blend 8Drops

Add 6-8 drops of Vetiver to your diffuser to create a grounding and soothing atmosphere. Helps to soothe and unwind the mind to aid in mediation. Also helpful as an aphrodisiac.

Massage Blend5Drops Per 10ml

Add up to 5 drops of Vetiver per 10 ml of blending oil, or 2 drops per 10ml for a facial blend. Helps to relax the body, releasing the physical effects of emotional turmoil and soothing tired muscles and joints. It is also supportive for dry and mature skin. Not recommended for those with sensitive, damaged or allergy prone skin.

Skin Blend2Drops Per 10ml

Add 2 drops of Vetiver per 10 ml of blending oil for a facial blend, or up to 5 drops per 10 ml for use on the body. Particularly helpful for dry and mature skin. Not recommended for those with sensitive, damaged or allergy prone skin.

Bath Blend6Drops Per 20ml

Add 4 to 6 drops of Vetiver to 20ml of blending oil – enough for around 3 baths. Add to the water just before you get in and swirl it around. Helps to calm the emotions, relax the body and unwind the mind. Also helpful as a mediation aid.
