Summer holidays and essential oils

If you are planning your holidays, a stay-cation or writing your ‘to take’ list for your holiday abroad, don’t forget to leave a little space in your luggage for some ‘essential’ Essential Oils.
Used safely, essential oils can be very useful and effective for your travels. I would recommend these four Essential Oils to take with you…
Something we all try to avoid, but the occasional red shoulder does happen!
You or your family feeling ill whilst travelling is a huge worry; I know my kids have both suffered during long car journeys which can be made so much more bearable by the simple use of Lemon and Peppermint essential oils.
Both oils have refreshing qualities. Peppermint is recognised for easing sickness. Just inhaling the essential oil can bring relief. Lemon is refreshing with a cleansing aroma. We associate Lemon with feeling uplifted and clean, this association may help feelings of nausea. The two together will help to quell motion sickness
Add 2 drops of each essential oil to a cotton wool pad and place in the car 20 min before leaving. I usually place it on the dashboard. You will then be travelling in a lightly scented car which can be replenished every 3-4 hours. If you are flying take the cotton wool ball in a small container with the essential oils already added. During the flight when you feel the need, inhale the aromas to ease the feeling of nausea.
Travelling can upset your digestive system, sometimes it can be due to a time difference and your body clock getting out of kilter, other times it may be due to something you’ve eaten. Obviously, keep your water intake up and consult a doctor if you are unwell. However, a mild tummy upset can be calmed by a gentle tummy massage using Roman Chamomile, Lavender and Peppermint.
Hopefully, you won’t need any of the tips above, but I always travel with my essential oils, just in case! Above all have a wonderful holiday!
