Product Details

Palmarosa essential oil is sweet, refreshing and wonderfully uplifting. It has a soft, rosy fragrance with delicate citrusy hints that can help to calm the mind, ease tension, and bring a sense of peaceful balance when you’re feeling mentally drained or emotionally unsettled. It is also a natural choice for cleansing oily and congested skin.

Emotionally
Palmarosa helps to quell anger and frustration, restore inner peace and lift mental exhaustion. It’s a great choice for people looking for support with emotional balance and motivation.

Physically
Known for its anti-microbial and purifying qualities, Palmarosa is a natural choice for cleansing congested, oily or inflamed skin without the strong medicinal scent of other purifying oils. It can help tone combination skin, calm skin irritation, and may even ease headaches or mild bloating when used in a massage blend.

Around the home
With its soft floral scent, Palmarosa makes a lovely addition to blends for natural home cleaning or as a gentle insect repellent. Simply add 4 drops of essential oil and 2 tablespoons of baking soda to half a litre of water and wipe over kitchen and bathroom surfaces, or use in a diffuser to fill your home with its delicate aroma and keep flying bugs at bay.

Palmarosa essential oil is soft and sweet with a delicate rosy aroma.

Aromatically, Palmarosa is a middle note essential oil, the main body and balance of a blend, meaning its scent will last a few hours. It blends well with Tea Tree, Lavender or Geranium.

Palmarosa is a tufted grass which grows wild in northern parts of India, and is now cultivated in the Comoros Islands and the Seychelles. It belongs to the same family as Lemongrass and Citronella (the Poaceae family) and is part of the most abundant plant family on our planet – there are over 10,000 types of grass on the earth, Bamboo being the strongest and tallest.

Palmarosa is a tall, slender grass growing up to 3 meters high. Its flowers change from pale blue to dark red as they mature. Unusually, the essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the whole plant – leaves, flowers and stalks. It is harvested for distillation in April and May and then again between September to December.
